William "Bill" Peene Holland Jr. was the son of William and Mae Mueller Holland, husband to Loretta "Laura" E. Holland who passed in 2004, and father to Dr. Dolores 'Deigh' Holland. Bill was known to many as 'Pop'. Bill was born in Bay Ridge, New York. He attended St. Francis High School. He began working in an insurance office where he met the love of his life, Laura, and they married in 1953. He served his country as a member of the Navy. Bill then worked for Wonder Bread for 16 years before relocating to Cape Coral, Florida in 1971, where he worked for the city of Cape Coral. He was a catalyst in bringing the union Local 1023 to the city and became its first president. He later became the Supervisor of Public Works Lot Mowing for the city of Cape Coral. After retirement, Bill was very involved with miniature trains, reading, guns, but his passion was working with wood.
When he spoke; people listened as they knew he was a man of his word. Bill will be remembered as a loving father and husband, a Union man, a well-dressed gentleman, and a hard worker. He was quick-witted, kind, and charming. He will be greatly missed.
